Worrier vs Warrior

Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell. Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from the will of your Father. And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.

Matthew 10:28-31

How amazing is this promise from the Word? As children of God, have no need to fear anything! That means that we should not worry about what’s going to happen in the future. Our Father is in control and He protects those He loves. The absolute worst thing that could happen is to go to Hell to spend eternity without Him, but if you are saved you need not worry.

This brings me to my next point… Since we have no need to worry for ourselves, should we not be concerned for the salvation of others? We need to have a heart that yearns to tell our unsaved friends, family and colleagues about the saving grace we have recieved. We need to pray for them, fervently, pray that the Holy Spirit will guide us and give opportunities to share the gospel. We need to spend more time on our knees before our Lord interceding for those who don’t know Him, and spend more time talking to them about Him than about the latest gossip. We need to shine His glory to them, so that they may see Him in us, and know that the peace we have is from the Father, not from ourselves.

I am probably the worst sinner when it comes to speaking and witnessing the faith. But this verse made me realise that there is a battlefield out there and we Christian are spending more time as worriers than the warriors we were called to be.

Lets rise up an army of Christian warriors for the gospel, not to fight with weapons of destruction, but with the weapons of the Spirit.
